WAR REPORT 1/10/23

“Germany's industrial production in the energy intensive chemical and pharmaceutical sectors fell over -15% in 2022 data to November. This is the counterpart to high storage levels of natural gas. Whole swaths of German manufacturing have been shut down and likely won't reopen...”

- Robin Brooks

——

🇬🇧 According to the Financial Times, ongoing political chaos and the results of sanctions are furthering the trend of deindustrialization in the UK. High energy costs are now a major factor in making British manufacturing non-competitive.

——

🇷🇺 In another blow to the ongoing economic war against Russia by the West, it is now being reported by Reuters that the Sakhalin-1 project has resumed full oil production. Initially disrupted by Exxon Mobil pulling out in the wake of sanctions, this success represents a serious victory for Moscow, as it had been speculated in the West that the Russian energy sector could not survive with Western partners.

——

🇨🇳🇷🇺 Equally important, China is set to increase their purchases of Russian oil, particularly as they move to fully open their economy after the end of COVID Zero policies.

Starting in February, an option may be introduced for products traded at a premium to crude oil, and another for those products that are sold at a discount, writes Reuters.

Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Nikolai Patrushev:

✔️The situation in the world is extremely complex and has a turbulent character. Many countries of different regions are simultaneously in a military-political, economic, social and spiritual crisis. Let's hope that there will be positive changes this year.

✔️Western politicians do not have the strength and opportunities to change life in their states for the better, because they have not been independent figures for a long time. Everyone has connections with big business, lobbyists, foundations. They don't even hide these facts. The real power in the West is in the hands of resource-rich clans and multinational corporations.

✔️In fact, the American state is just a shell for a conglomerate of huge corporations that rule the country and try to dominate the world. For multinational corporations, even US presidents are just extras who can be shut up like Trump. All four murders of American leaders are connected with the corporate trail. It is no coincidence that an increasing number of Americans say that Republicans and Democrats are just two actors in one play that has nothing to do with democracy.

✔️There is no place for our country in the West. Russia annoys a bunch of world rulers by having rich resources, a huge territory, intelligent and self-sufficient people who love their country, its traditions and history. Transnational corporations are unnerved by Russia's ideological divergence from countries under the control of Western capital.

✔️Corporations are aimed at enriching and developing the consumer society. Russia defends a reasonable balance of spiritual and moral values and socio-economic development.

They seek to weaken our country, dismember it, and destroy the Russian language and the Russian world. They have long worked out the technology of undermining their rivals from within and splitting them into small states. This was also the case earlier, when, for example, London, following the results of the First World War, destroyed empires and stamped dozens of countries out of them. This is how they act today. A striking example is Yugoslavia. The state that had an independent voice in the international arena is divided into six.

✔️The Westerners' plans are to continue to pull Russia apart, and eventually just erase it from the political map of the world. Today they are still shouting loudly that Russia should not remain unified, it should be driven into the borders of Muscovy of the XV century. To do this, they do not shun anything, including inventing a completely false history of our country, shifting their responsibility for the oppression of other peoples onto it, which Russia has never done.

✔️The whole story with Ukraine was started in Washington in order to work out the technologies of dividing and pitting one and the same people against each other.

✔️Our country is on the path of creating a strong, modern, independent economy in order to achieve economic sovereignty. Russia has all the resources for this. We need a culture of their use, a careful and economic attitude to our treasures — not only natural, but also intangible. Russian business should be nationally oriented. Private capital, as well as the authorities, should think about the long-term development of the country.

🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🇲🇽 What the US, Mexico and Canada agreed on ahead of 'Three Amigos' summit

But perhaps most notable was what's missing so far -- there was no fresh commitment on fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid that is smuggled across the border from Mexico, even after the White House said President Joe Biden would make specific asks of his Mexican counterpart, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.

Instead, the White House said the three countries have committed to "increased information sharing on chemicals used in the illicit manufacture of fentanyl and other synthetic drugs" -- a far cry from any new law enforcement operations, sanctions or other activity to disrupt fentanyl production and trafficking by drug cartels.

🇺🇸 🇮🇱 🇨🇳 US restricts Israeli dual-citizens from piloting F-35 jets: Report

🔴 The Department of Defense (DoD) and US intelligence authorities are restricting Israeli air force pilots with dual citizenships from manning F-35 fighter jets, according to the Jerusalem Post.

🔴 On 6 January, the Israeli outlet reported that Washington’s move is rooted in “fear of information security and technology leaks,” as the US has been widening its focus on information security and protecting its interests.

🔴 According to sources, the Israeli air force has reportedly accepted the restrictions, and Israel, as a result, has ceased assigning pilots to its “Adir” F-35 jets.

🔴 This US decision represents Washington’s longstanding concern that sensitive information regarding the design and technology of its combat aircraft will end up in Chinese hands.

🔴 US government officials claimed in the 1990s that Israel and China were working closely to produce a new and improved fighter jet for China’s air force, which was to “incorporate extensive technological innovations derived” from the blueprints of the ‘Lavi’ jet. Israeli officials more or less denied this at the time.

🔴 Now, decades later, US media reports that there is “considerable evidence” to suggest that the development of the Chinese air force’s shining pillar – the renowned J-10 ‘Vigorous Dragon’ – was heavily influenced by the US-designed ‘Lavi’ aircraft.

🇺🇸 US Navy considers Cold War-era squadrons to boost readiness

The cruiser Chosin and destroyer Stout were both deemed unfit for combat operations by the service’s Board of Inspection and Survey, which at the time checked ships’ material conditions every five years.

The crisis came after the Navy discontinued several of its Cold War-era organizations focused on maintenance and training in an effort to save money during a time without a significant threat to U.S. security.

But the failures of Chosin and Stout drew new attention to the problem. Adm. John Harvey, who led U.S. Fleet Forces Command at the time, helped charter a fleet review panel to determine how the Navy ended up in this position.

The review, released in 2010, was condemnatory. “The panel is in full agreement that surface force material readiness is in decline. [T]he message is clear: the trend is in the wrong direction.”

Chief among the review’s recommendations was a call for the return of readiness squadrons, which oversaw surface ship maintenance and basic training. The review found that when these squadrons were eliminated in 1995, so too was the fleet’s focus on and accountability for making deployable ships and crews.

🇨🇦🇺🇦 Canada will buy NASAMS air defense systems from the United States and donate them to Kiev.

Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand said this on Twitter following a phone conversation with Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov.

📝 "This is Canada's first free gift of an air defense system to Ukraine." "In the face of Russia's brutal air strikes against Ukraine, this air defense system will help protect Ukrainian population centres and critical infrastructure from drone, missile, and aircraft attacks," said the head of the Canadian Ministry of Defense.

⚔🇷🇺🇺🇦 NEW VIDEO: What (more reasonable) Western Analysts Say Comes Next for Ukraine

Some Western analysts have been providing a more accurate picture of the conflict in Ukraine than the general barrage of Western war propaganda.

They seem to agree that:

▪️There is no path for Ukraine to win militarily;

▪️Russia is nowhere near as incompetent and ill-prepared as the Western media suggests;

▪️Russia is not seizing territory because it is waging a war of attrition;

▪️Ukrainian territorial gains may have appeared “spectacular” but came at the cost of huge losses in men and equipment;

▪️Russia is bolstering both its manpower and defensive positions;

▪️The loss of Kharkov and Kherson city has actually left Russia in a more advantageous position, more troops on a shorter line of contact;

▪️Russian forces fighting in Bakhmut seek to grind Ukrainian forces down, not capture the city from them.

🇯🇵🐔🦠 — 📰 Bloomberg: Bird Flu Outbreak Sparks Record Slaughter of 10 Million Animals in Japan

— "Japan has culled close to 10 million birds in a record outbreak of avian influenza, as authorities struggle to tamp down the disease that has already devastated poultry flocks worldwide.

The agriculture ministry said on Monday that 9.98 million birds have been culled this season, surpassing a previous record in fiscal 2020. On Tuesday, it confirmed the disease at an egg farm in Miyazaki prefecture that housed about 100,000 hens.

The outbreak in Japan is adding to the unprecedented bird flu epidemic sweeping the world. Culls are curbing supplies of products from eggs to foie gras, exacerbating the food inflation that’s hit consumer budgets the past year."
